San Dimas Landscaping and Design: Southwest Style

This landscape design and installation by Clements Landscape and Pool Construction was inspired by the client’s love of the Southwest. Stairs were installed to tame the steep approach to the front door from the street and the walls were finished with a ultra smooth, cream color Santa Barbara finish accented with small copper accent lights. The landscaping in the back includes a patio featuring authentic Saltillo tiles under a lattice cover, with a curving wall clad in the same creamy smooth stucco as the front entry stairs. A walking path leads through the garden over a dry creek with a custom wooden bridge and past an Mexican carreta the client brought from a previous home in Texas.

As a finishing touch, mature olive trees were sourced from a commercial grove, and selected in person for their distinctive, balanced branching structures. These trees were carefully brought into the landscape by crane, adding a sense of permanence and the feeling of a centuries old mission garden.
