Glendora Pool Construction:
Free Form From Start to Finish

This compact pool design packs a big punch thanks to curves designed to maximize the swim lengths and take advantage of every bit of space in this modestly sized back yard. Follow our process step by step to see what goes into building a swimming pool.

The design process includes hand sketching and then transferring the layout to AutoCAD. The set back (an area along the property line where no building is allowed) is determined through the city and marked on the plan. This leaves the build area. Knowing that the coping was going to be pre-cast concrete, every radius had to match the available radii from the precast manufacturer.

The layout is marked out for final approval, and then the excavation begins. The outline of the pool is marked with paint and then forms are staked into the ground to make sure the excavation is perfect. This dig went beautifully, as you can see in the pictures.

The next step is rough plumbing, then a framework of rebar (steel reinforcing bars) is installed. This rebar frame will reinforce the shotcrete (concrete that is sprayed at high velocity).

Finding creative and practical ways to make sure the finished product not only looks great but functions perfectly include planning for drainage issues caused by adding hardscape to an area bordered by existing concrete, and with a minimal amount of grade change.

When the precast coping arrives, it fits the planned curves perfectly and is expertly installed. The waterline tile and trim tile to highlight the Baja shelf, steps and deep end bench are next.

Decking comes next, the concrete is poured at an exacting height to make sure that water drains away from the pool and into the drainage system. It may not rain frequently here in the Inland Empire, but we plan for the times it does so that our installations are flood free. We use high-strength concrete with reinforcing fibers from trusted suppliers for a reliable finish.

The final construction step is plastering. This phase is crucial for both the appearance and longevity of the pool, with proper maintenance and startup practices making a significant difference. The finished project is this perfect little gem of a pool.
