Creating beautiful outdoor spaces in Upland for over 25 years.
Upland landscape projects by Clements Landscape and Pool Construction over the years have included new pools and pool remodels, patio covers, paver installations and more. We decided to feature these two projects over the rest because they represent something that is important to us: returning yards to places where birds can nest and forage, and bees, butterflies and moths can complete their cycles. Even if it’s only one native tree, or a corner of your garden with a half dozen native plants, we encourage you to add a wild spot to your yard.
Upland Landscape Project: Back to Nature Makeover
This beautiful makeover in Upland included replacing over 1,500 square feet of thirsty Bermuda grass with a stunning chaparral-inspired landscape. For a natural feel, berms were sculpted and enhanced with local boulders to give the appearance of a natural setting. The design features a dry creek bed with locally sourced boulders, and a walkway of extra large slabs of Arizona flagstone laid in decomposed granite to connect the spaces. Strategic landscape lighting creates curb appeal while providing security. The native and drought tolerant plantings dramatically reduce water consumption and maintenance requirements. Native Toyon and Redbud trees create privacy and add cover and forage for birds. A water feature in an unexpected place is a special surprise for visitors.
Upland Landscape Design: A Wild Renewal
This project came to us when the homeowner happened to see our other featured Upland project, Turf Removal: Back to Nature. She loved how the landscape evoked a wild and natural setting, and wanted Clements Landscape and Pool Construction to add that feel to her home in north Upland’s San Antonio Heights neighborhood. Tons of topsoil were brought in to create the berms in the main area and sinuous low mounds in the parkway strips, and a huge truckload of hand selected boulders were delivered and carefully placed to mimic a natural setting.
The palette of trees and plants was selected to enhance the wild and natural look of the landscape while weaving in color and movement throughout the year.
